Conversation starters

Do you find it hard to talk about climate change at church? You’re definitely not alone! Try these recommended resources as a starting point:

  • WATCH Katharine Heyhoe is a Christian and a climate scientist. In this brilliant TED talk she explains how to have a constructive conversation about climate change. Watch on YouTube
  • READ ‘How to talk about climate change in a way that makes a difference.’ Rebecca Huntley, Murdoch Books, 2020. Begins with the story about the author watching the school kids on TV protesting about climate change and thinking ‘good on them for telling the older generation to do more’ – and how something suddenly shifted inside her. Their message was for her! This book goes on to look at our various emotional responses to climate change, and explains how to have those conversations that make a difference. Highly recommended!
